About Us

Child Voice

For children's progressive future

Child Voice works towards the sustainable development of children and their families. A UK-based volunteer, witnessing the condition of tribal children living in Kodaikanal region, seeded the necessity for an organization that would work exclusively for their welfare. Ever since, our organization became a voice for children living in absolute poverty and negligence. We initiated our activities by providing healthcare facilities for children living in tribal areas. We have expanded our activities and supported many children by providing access to education, healthcare facilities, developing their skills, awareness programmes, and rescuing them from child marriage, child labor and bonded labor practices.

Our focus areas

An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society

Mission & Vision

OUR VISION

A progressive society that is actively involved in promoting and safeguarding the rights of children.

OUR MISSION

To empower underprivileged children and to ascertain their rights, particularly protection and participation rights. To establish sustainable communities that priorities child rights. To bring policy level changes for implementation of children’s rights through advocacy and networking.

Our Programs

Child Development

Through our integrated approach we focus on developing health, education, and ability of a child. We collaborate with Panchayath Raj Representatives, Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC), Child Protection Officer in the local Police Stations, VAO, Child Line, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mukiya Sevika (MS) , District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and with like-minded NGOs and formed Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC), Community Support Group (CSG), Adolescent Action Group (AAG), Adolescent Boys Group (ABG) to address all the issues faced by children and to empower them for sustainable development. Majority of our intervention is to spread awareness to the at-risk community, and sensitize them on issues such as child marriage, child abuse, and bonded labor practice. For those children who can't be helped with our support, we connect them with the legal bodies and ensure support through Child monitoring app and follow-up mechanisms

Education

A child needs a proper education to make right decisions about their life, also to have access to all job opportunities in society. To increase the literacy rate among children from a tribal community in Kodaikanal, we construct a school complex and motivate children to pursue education for a better future. Our Community Resource Centre (CRC) helps children in the enrolment process and provides educational support for children from poor and illiterate backgrounds. Child Voice conducts awareness programs on education in communities where children dropout rates are high. Children are introduced to both formal and non- formal education to empower them.

Life skills training

As a part of holistic child development, we provide life skills training to all the children, particularly those who can't study well. We provide vocational training, career guidance at school-level, and village level. Adolescent girls are given extra attention in this process, as they need proper guidance to make the right decision. The themes covered during life skill training are creative thinking, core skills, leadership skills, creative thinking, problem-solving, decision-making ability, and making timely decisions.

Health

Child Voice aims at providing healthcare facilities for children living in remote areas. Our first intervention was to improve the health of tribal children as malnourishment became a severe problem and even caused death in newborns. We conduct health camps for children inclusively adolescent girls, and anaemic children. The medical team provides vitamin supplements, and follow up with children to ensure healthy diets. As a part of promoting children's health, we visit remote areas and spread awareness on a balanced diet and consume healthy local food. We also conduct medical camps for workers in mills as they are exposed to hazardous working conditions resulting in reproductive issues, so we give them awareness and help them to seek proper treatment.
